Anton Rubinstein was a formidable focre in the development of the romantic piano concerto.  He was revered both as a great pianist and as a great composer, yet withing a few decades he was largely gorgotten.  Gradually his work, particularly his piano concertos, have regained some of their footing in the performance world.
