Over het album

Star Stracks is an anthology of West European pop music from the period 1974-1995. This music is part of the musical background of the trio; they grew up with it, sometimes liking it, and sometimes not. The album does not attempt to give a jazzy flavour to these pop tunes; the tunes themselves form the inspiration for the trio's interpretation. Each tune is taken back to the moment of its creation, and then drawn in the direction of the trio. The essence of the art of improvisation that we usually call jazz is being rediscovered by taking contemporary popular music as a staring point for improvisation. 

Yuri Honing, Tony Overwater and Joost Lijbaart all give their own side of the story, rephrasing their definition of jazz.
