Over het album
The studying of the line-up of the group “Peter’s Playstation” allows a hint to the type of music cultivated by its seven members: light and airy, pursuing a very personally developed interesting style with enough room for the participants to deliver intelligent solos. Yet, the proceedings keep a justifiable distance from jazz by often using ostinato phrases to build certain bridges into the successful compositions. Even though a bit away from jazz, the high level of musicianship is upheld and under-lined by excellent solo contributions to bring the music closer to jazz just the same. To be considered are the two outstanding instrumental soloists who lend a very special flavor to the music. First Michael Zismann, treating an instrument considered to be reserved for tango - the bandoneon - extracting sounds seldom heard and covering stylistically grounds for this instrument. Simon Wyrsch appears to be another youngster on the go with his bass clarinet. The rest of the group, especially leader/-composer/arranger and drummer Preibisch is heard at their very best, a real treat!
