NINE: the guitar and beyond, is a recorded anthology of nine original works featuring solo classical guitar and chamber music, by composer James Piorkowski. 
Significantly, this recording presents recent works by a composer who is known for having developed an individual and identifiable musical language, by employing a cultivated harmonic idiom, a wide-ranging means of expression and cultural/historical commentary. In addition, with the continually rising popularity of the classical guitar in the world of new music, this compilation will present several diverse solo and chamber works recorded for the first time. Most of these works are guitar based: for solo - classical guitar, voice and guitar, choir and guitar, and cello and guitar. This in itself is unique, as it is uncommon for a composer to write in so many varied formats, styles and settings, and in this case, perform in every work, except one where the guitar isn’t present.
